Please reference the following examples to understand the type of monitoring data Palmetto is auditing as part of system review.

These visuals illustrate what LightReach is “looking for” when confirming proper data reporting as well as some of the common issues identified during audits.

Please refer to the Monitoring Portal Access (M1) article for setup and access instructions.

What LightReach Is “Looking For” – PV Only

Indicators of “Good Data”:

  • Orange consumption and blue production should be independent and not correlated.

  • Data should normally not be below 0, with the slight tolerance within reason.

  • More than -40W of negative data during production hours is considered a flag for data concern- For new home installations using Enphase systems, negative readings up to -40 watts are acceptable, as long as they are not linked to equipment issues. - Negative readings up to -10 watts are generally not concerning unless associated with a specific installation error.

What LightReach Is “Looking For” – Battery

Indicators of “Good Data”:

  • Battery charge should be showing while production is above consumption and battery is not fully charged.

  • Once consumption crosses production, battery will discharge. Whether this is mid day high demand or evening with no production

  • Storm Alert may pause these cycles- Negative readings during battery discharge cycles may occur and should be assessed considering CT configuration and potential installation errors.

What LightReach Is NOT “Looking For”

Examples of Common Data Issues:- Submissions at M2 milestone with active negative consumption are rejected. Systems must reach normal operating conditions before activation approval.

  • Correctively resolved negative consumption data must demonstrate 24 hours of standard behavior before resubmission acceptance.

  • Correlated data due to incorrect configuration (e.g., Load with Solar vs. Load Only for consumption).

  • Negative consumption data suggesting wiring, polarity, or CT installation errors.- For battery systems, reversed CT configurations may cause negative consumption readings. Confirming CT orientation or updating monitoring settings can resolve these discrepancies.

What LightReach Is “Looking For” – PV Only

Indicators of “Good Data”:

  • Consumption data is blue here, which should stay above 0.

  • Yellow consumption should look like normal production curve, no limiting factors

  • Red is grid power, so a net of the production minus the consumption

What LightReach Is “Looking For” – Battery

Indicators of “Good Data”:

  • Battery charging at beginning of production with lime green graph data

  • Seeing grid power become net once battery is fully charged

  • Battery state of energy graph (%) is very useful second chart to graph once selected on portal, showing the cycling of the battery with production and consumption

What LightReach Is NOT “Looking For”

Examples of Common Data Issues:

  • Negative Home Load: typically caused by reversed CTs or incorrect phasing.

  • Production limited (Yellow) commonly due to “No Export” settings restricting power export to the grid.- Proper CTs installation and orientation per the manufacturer’s guidelines can prevent issues such as reversed readings. - If negative consumption persists due to wiring errors, reconfigure CTs accordingly or adjust monitoring platform settings.
