Design deliverables are one of the leading causes of project rejections. To avoid delays, it’s essential that all teams carefully review and follow the approved design standards before submitting. While these requirements are consistent with the DOE Solar Access Program, there are additional considerations specific to the Puerto Rico Main Line program.

This section highlights the key requirements for successful design submissions and links to the full Design Package | Inputs and Deliverables article for detailed guidance.

Failure to follow design requirements, or intentional misuse of modeling criteria to artificially impact homeowner value propositions, may result in the termination of access to the LightReach product.

This section outlines the required simulation and system loss settings when modeling projects in Aurora. These standards help ensure consistency across designs and accurate performance estimates. Reference the checklist below and review the example photos to confirm settings before submitting.

For a full list of required System Loss settings, please refer HERE.

  • Project address

  • Lidar active

  • Irradiance active

  • Simulation Settings

    • Model Engine: PVWatts 8 or Aurora

    • Lidar Shading Enabled (If accurate) or disabled (Tree removal)

    • Weather Dataset: Order of preference - PSM3, TMY3, TMY2

  • System Losses

  • As-Built Revisions Require an Updated Proposal

    • Best practice is to re-run the proposal with the as-built layout to ensure there are no out of tolerance production changes.

    • If there are, proactively managing the change order process prior to submission will result in a smooth M1 review and avoid a rejection.

  • Change in modeled production and system size:

    • PPA: If a production (kWh) change is greater than (-5 to +10%) a customer change is required

    • Lease: If system size (kW) and / or production is greater than (-5 to +10%) a customer change order is required.

All product changes are required to be documented in the project Account details.
